The role I participated in, in the production “What
happens next? Life after college” was being the camera operator for camera 3. I
feel that this role was a really good role for me for this type of production
as I didn’t have to move the camera at all, only if there was too much headroom
etc. The one thing I did enjoy was being behind the camera as I have experience
in this from other productions, but it was nice to be in the studio instead of
the gallery as for other productions, I would really like to participate in
different job roles that I don’t feel comfortable in as this will help me to
learn and experience other equipment in both the studio and gallery. However in this production I feel that the
director communicated very well with the floor manager, camera operators and
the host in the studio, giving both information and orders.
One thing I did
pick up on that could have been improved was the sound as some of the panellists
spoke really quite compared to others. During this production I learnt that
being a camera operator you have to always be on top form and that when you’re
preparing for a live production/ assessment that practice makes perfect as it’s
best to fit in as many rehearsals as best as possible because this helps
efficiently when it comes to the live thing.
